A mosque, being the place of worship for Muslims, has strict guidelines that must be followed for the erecting and maintenance of a worship site and facility. Furthermore, a mosque is never erected unless there is a distinct Muslim population present to necessitate such a need.

Recently members and associates of the Organization known as “Act,” began circulating a petition on Facebook to stop the building of a mosque near ground zero in Manhattan, New York. This petition, and the drive behind it, insinuates that Muslims in any location will eventually fall victim to proclivities of violence and plots for destruction. However, the Quran’s teachings are against such tendencies.

Raising the Mosque

During the time of Prophet Muhammad those whose intention was to destroy Islam raised a mosque in Qubaa in opposition to the mosque in Medina. They stated that their intent was to advance Islam but in reality their intent was to destroy the fledgling movement.

Prophet Muhammad refused to visit it, and the Quran states in Chapter 9 verse 107 that, “And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity - to disunite the Believers - and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars.”

As such, it is believed by Muslims that the mischief and infidelity of those who put up a mosque under false pretenses are making an attempt to disunite people. As the old idiom states, “divide and conquer.” Therefore the Quran instructs the Muslims in Chapter 9 verse 108 to, “Never stand thou forth therein…” But stand in those mosques that are raised to unite people.

Visiting and Preparing the Mosque

It appears that the Muslims who wish to raise a house of worship to God near Ground Zero, and the families of the victims who support them, intend for this to be a symbol of healing. For they realize that it was not Islam that causes acts of terrorism. It is men whose intent it is to commit mass murder and destroy any chance for reconciliation between the various faith and civil groups.

Those who wish to raise a mosque near Ground Zero must insure that it is a “…mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are people who love to be purified; and Allah loveth those who make themselves pure, “according to the Quran in chapter 9 verse 108.

This mosque will contain the culture of Muslims in America. There will be a place for worship, recreation, and the purchase of books to facilitate understanding. It will stand as a testament to the human will and desire of people from various backgrounds, regardless of gender or religious belief, to be at harmony with one another.

Maintaining the mosque

According to the Quran in chapter 9 verse 18 there can be no place for the terrorist nor those who crave disunity when it states, “The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance. “

As such, Muslims must carefully guard and protect the raising, and maintenance of the mosque in Manhattan. They must control who visits it for various functions, meetings, and upkeep; and stand guard against any who would insight terroristic ideologies. They must insure that God is pleased with what they do in the house raised for his worship.
